You can order the album, and check out the first streaming track 'Nu Shu (part 1)' via the link below.
We're loving the colorful cover + single art for this one, in one of @exhumist super cool drawing styles. It's going to look amazing LP sized! More about Clamor from the press release:
Through her signature indeterminate and fluid style, Clamor reimagines the idea of “womens’ work,'' using women-made inventions as a starting point to craft powerful music.
"Nu Shu" part 1 and 2 honors the secret language created and used exclusively by Chinese women forbidden to go to school like their brothers. The two-part piece features Young as an improvising soloist in dialogue with the ensemble, attending to her talent for improvising within a collaborative context. As a composer and sound artist Young has developed a unique language for bassoon, and the movements she's featured on have built-in moments of gently structured spontaneity that attend to her original voice.
Clamor features Jessica Pavone, with Katherine Young - bassoon, Aimée Niemann + Charlote Munn-Wood - violin, Abby Swidler - viola, Mariel Roberts - cello, and Shayna Dulberger - double bass.
"[Pavone's] compositions are wholly absorbing, sinking the listener into a nebulous pool of sound." - Jonathan Williger, Pitchfork
"She's been on a tear in recent years, both with solo recordings and chamber string groups." - Peter Margasak, The Quietus
